I think the contract ought to be performance-based, with regular reviews, and "opt out" clauses if the person stinks. This last superintendent just was NEVER very good, but the town kept trying to fit a mean and angry square peg in a round hole. Why, I have no idea. The town as a whole suffered from the poor leadership at the town's Big Spender department, and the teachers, staff and schoolchildren suffered as well.

Re: Schools expect to pick new superintendent by March

Good luck Claudia in your next job search. Many of us hoped you would have had the Cambridge job, but that did not come to be. Andover people have a reputation for being 'snobs', but you are the 'ultimate snob' even to Andoverites. It is interesting that you now choose an immediate escape, given the Brickman mess. Boy, you screwed up big time there. They are paying taxes on their property and are investing in the town. You went 'over the top' to make life difficult for them. On top of that you have time to go peeking in windows?? Give me a break...Renters can enroll children in school based on a utility bill and a declaration that the child lives in town 4 nights out of 7. Who verifies that living arrangement - no one. GOOD BYE.
